One of the most difficult parts of being an artist is sitting back and being told what to do or how to do it without any say or control in the matter. It’s stifling and forces us to suppress the creative talents we’ve been given. Producing put me in the perfect position to help craft others’ visions and bring that art to life.

The impetus for my direction and approach to fulfilling my goal as a producer comes from my long-held belief and I must admit, my frustration, regarding television shows and film. Stereotypes abound, especially for African Americans.

Of course, there are similar issues relating to other ethnic groups, but my main concern is centered on how Black people are caricatured and characterized in shows offered to both general audiences and Black audiences.

If I can have the power to shape a story and help the writers and directors who have a story to tell but are unsure how to make it happen, then that is the job for me.
